Hospital St. Elisabeth and St. Barbara in Halle (Saale) saves energy

Conversion in  ongoing hospital operation

Founded around 125 years ago, the St. Elisabeth and St. Barbara Hospital is centrally located in the city of Halle (Saale) and is a major care provider in Saxony-Anhalt and northern Saxony. It has approx. 600 fully-stationary beds and numerous medical specialties, equipped with extensive technical equipment. ENGIE was brought on board in 2018 to bring these up to date and save energy in the process.

Our services

  • Ascertaining the actual state
     
  • Elaboration of the energy cost savings and the necessary investments within the framework of the detailed analysis
     
  • Planning and implementation of the measures during ongoing clinical and laboratory operation
    • A 300 kW absorption chiller and a 480 kW QUANTUM turbo refrigeration machine were installed
    • For easier operation and clearer organization,  three different BMS systems were connected together
    • A high-speed steam generator was installed and a burner exchange was carried out on the steam boiler
    • ENGIE also replaced pumps, fans and drives for improved efficiency
       
  • Supervision of plants and monitoring of energy consumption during the contract period
