University of Stuttgart saves energy with ENGIE

Sustainable reduction of energy costs and CO2 emissions

The project  "Los 4" is  an energy saving project of the University of Stuttgart, which has already been preceded by many similar projects with ENGIE Deutschland. The  aim of "Los 4" was to save energy, in order to reduce the running costs of the campus in a sustained fashion: In a total of 10 properties on the campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, a combination of different energy optimization measures saves over 100,000 euros per year in energy costs and  310 t CO2.

Our services

  • Lighting renovation on LED technology

  • Control is achieved by air quality, humidity and temperature sensors

  • Use of highly efficient heating pumps

  • Precise adjustment of valves in the heating and cooling circuit

  • Utilization of the waste heat of an existing refrigeration machine to support the low temperature heating circuits

  • Additional storage of excess waste heat through two buffer tanks

For example, four ventilation systems have been replaced in the "Allmandring" sports hall and control technology has been completely modernized. Various buildings were equipped with a humidity and air quality control system that meets the requirements.

The installation and replacement of highly efficient LED lighting technology and modern heating pumps further increased the sustainability of the university.
