Cologne – ENGIE Vianeo is expanding its truck charging infrastructure in Germany. At the Ansbach service area operated by the Rudolf Kempe Group, its experts are planning and building a new charging hub for electric heavy-duty vehicles. The site is located directly on the A6 motorway, a key East-West route connecting the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region via Nuremberg to the Czech border and forming part of the Trans-European Transport Network. Karsten Reichl, Managing Director of the Rudolf Kempe Group, says: “As a family-owned business, we have been thinking across generations for 80 years. Together with ENGIE Vianeo, we are now equipping our Ansbach service area to meet the needs of tomorrow’s transport industry and laying the foundations for electric heavy-duty transport.” The Rudolf Kempe Group operates in the fields of energy, mobility, transport infrastructure and real estate development in the Nuremberg metropolitan region, where it where it invests in and operates filling stations and service areas.
At Kempe’s Ansbach service area, ENGIE Vianeo plans to install two MCS charging points for ultra-fast charging at up to 1,000 kilowatts, as well as six CCS (Combined Charging System) charging points with a charging capacity of up to 400 kilowatts. ENGIE Vianeo will be responsible for the entire operating model, from investment and construction through to ongoing operations. The site is scheduled to open in mid-2027. In addition to the new charging infrastructure, the site offers a comprehensive range of services for hauliers, including secure truck parking, a restaurant, a 24/7 shop, rest and relaxation facilities, and sanitary facilities with showers. Jan-Niklas Ellerich, Managing Director of ENGIE Vianeo in Germany, says: “The Rudolf Kempe Group is an experienced partner for a strategically important location in Germany. Ansbach complements our growing charging network along key German logistics routes and brings us closer to our goal of operating 1,000 charging points for heavy-duty electric vehicles across Europe by 2030.” ENGIE Vianeo has been active in the German market since July 2025. Its current reference projects include a major project with the Port of Kiel and a mandate from the federal government and Autobahn GmbH to develop a fast-charging network for trucks at unmanaged rest areas in Germany. ENGIE Vianeo is currently developing charging infrastructure specifically for commercial vehicles at around 50 sites across Germany.
