10,000 FFP2 respirator masks for Starnberger Kliniken

07 July 2020

Around 10,000 masks for physicians and nurses support the safe care of covid 19 patients.

Cologne/Starnberg – This donation is a sign of solidarity: ENGIE Deutschland GmbH has now delivered 10,000 high-quality respiratory masks to the Starnberger Kliniken. The masks comply with the protection class FFP2 (FFP = Filtering Face Piece) and thus offer a significantly higher security than a simple mouth-nose covering. They protect the wearer from aerosols in the air they breathe and thus, for example, from the transmission of the corona virus. Due to the corona pandemic, FFP2 respiratory masks are still in high demand on the international market. At the same time, the need remains high in medical facilities that care for patients suffering from covid 19 lung disease. This is because the protective masks effectively help to protect the medical and nursing staff working there from infection, and to ensure that healthcare is provided on a sustained basis.

Partner of hospitals worldwide
In Starnberger Kliniken, more than 1,460 employees are employed at different locations every day for the benefit of patients from the Starnberg district. The network includes the Klinikum Starnberg with 312 beds, the Klinikum Penzberg with 100 beds and the Klinikum Seefeld with 72 beds. The county-owned Dr. Robert Schindlbeck Clinic in Herrsching is managed under a management contract. In the past weeks, numerous patients with proven corona infection and even more patients with initial suspicion were treated at these sites. Supporting this commitment is a matter of the heart for ENGIE Deutschland, as Gerhard Hartwich, Sales Manager in the South region at Germany's leading specialist for technology, energy and service, emphasizes: "As ENGIE, we have been building, operating and energy partners of numerous hospitals in Germany and worldwide for many years. The corona pandemic is now presenting us with major challenges that we can only overcome together. Therefore, it is a matter of course for us to make a contribution in the fight against Corona and to support the Starnberger Kliniken with our donation. "Support which is of course more than welcome. "We are very grateful for this donation, because the procurement of these masks has improved a bit, but still not at the level at the beginning of the year and we do not know how the pandemic will continue to develop" says Heiner Kelbel, Managing Director of the Starnberger Klinikum. "Should a second wave occur, we have a stable supply in order to be able to equip our employees adequately."
