Cologne/Berlin - On 1 November 2023, Niklas Wiegand will join the management of ENGIE Deutschland GmbH and on 1 January 2024, he will take over the role of CEO Energy Solutions from Manfred Schmitz, who has shaped the company over the past two decades in leading positions for the ENGIE Group in Germany and who will leave ENGIE at his own request at the end of the year. Niklas Wiegand will then be responsible for the management of the company together with Eric Stab, who has been Country Manager and CEO of ENGIE Deutschland AG since 1 June 2023.

Niklas Wiegand joins ENGIE from the Bilfinger Group, where in recent years he helped shape the restructuring and transformation process from a construction group to an industrial services provider; most recently as Head of Germany with around 5,000 employees. After completing his banking apprenticeship, the 50-year-old businessman studied in Koblenz, Toronto, Lille and Harvard and then worked in banking and industry. Now Niklas Wiegand sees his new job as a challenge: "Mastering climate change is the greatest task of our time. I look forward to working with my colleagues to reliably support our customers in Germany in the transition to climate neutrality and to position ENGIE Deutschland for a sustainably successful future."
