ENGIE Germany acquires NEK Energy GmbH

Cologne, January 14, 2020 - ENGIE Deutschland GmbH has acquired 100 percent of the shares of NEK Energy GmbH (NEK), Braunschweig, effective December 31, 2019. The seller is NEK Sustainable Invest GmbH. NEK supplies more than 4,000 residential units and larger commercial properties with heat. The regional focus lies in the northeast of Germany with a focus on Berlin.

With the transaction just before the turn of the year, ENGIE Germany is strengthening its market position in the field of energy services, especially heat supply contracting. ENGIE is already one of Germany's leading energy contractors, with more than 3,500 decentralized and central energy supply systems and over 10,000 customers. As part of the "Zero Carbon Transition as a Service" strategy of the ENGIE Group, ENGIE Germany will focus in the future on low-carbon supply solutions for residential and commercial buildings, including tenant electricity and mobility offers.
