Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for industrial customers

With a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) – a purchase agreement for green electricity – you benefit from the sharp drop in the cost of producing energy from renewable  sources and can secure an attractive price level in the long term. At the same time, you ensure that additional green energy generation systems can be connected to the German electricity grid or be operated further.

For the design of the PPA, we are geared to your needs in power procurement. The different design options include:

  • Short to long-term maturities
  • Variable delivery volume
  • Various delivery models
  • Simultaneous matching of consumption with generation
  • Real-time understanding of your CO2 balance with specific options for mitigation (carbon matcher)

Post-EEG equipment

We pay special attention to post-EEG systems. These are plants which are no longer funded under the EEG. This will happen by 2023, for example, with wind turbines of the first hour with a total output of almost 4 GW. In spite of the expiring subsidy, system operators generally have to continue to pay leases, finance continuing operations reports and conclude subsequent maintenance and operational contracts. Owing to the high volatility in the electricity markets, old plants therefore often cannot continue to operate without a PPA. With a PPA, you ensure that wind turbines are retained for power generation in Germany. You benefit from flexible delivery models that are always based on the current market price.

PPA for new installations

A PPA for new installations is normally concluded before the plant is built and is used to finance the project. PPAs for new plants are usually run for ten to 15 years and secure the electricity price for the new plant in the long term. PPAs for new plants in Germany are particularly useful for larger solar projects> (20 MW) and offshore wind farms.

As your expert from ENGIE  we bring access to a large portfolio of wind- and solar systems  as well as extensive worldwide experience and a customer base from various industries into your PPA project. In addition, our expertise in risk management enables us to design customized products for you – with competitive prices and straight-forward contract design.

TEO - The Energy Origin

With TEO (The Energy Origin), ENGIE has developed a web platform based on blockchain technology. The tool builds the bridge between the physical world of power generation and energy consumption and the digital world of blockchain.

How TEO works:

  • You select the desired renewable plants yourself.
  • Your consumption is allocated 100 percent to the renewable energy produced – this is your guarantee for real green energy consumption.
  • We track the production and consumption of renewable electricity almost in real time and help you consume renewable electricity 24 hours a day.
  • With highly secured sensors installed at the sites, we record the amount of electricity generated and consumed in real time.
  • Our matching system calculates the amount of energy exchanged between renewable plants and industrial sites, as well as the impact in terms of avoided CO2.
  • Consumption and production are matched daily or hourly.
  • You get a powerful dashboard with energy and CO2 indicators that you can share. The CO2 effects are displayed almost in real time.
  • The technology is based on forgery-proof blockchain certificates.
